About Us

The Western Horizon is the official magazine of Jamia Ahmadiyya Canada displaying articles written by students and faculty on a wide variety of subjects.

Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (peace be upon him), the Promised Messiah and Mahdi, has instructed his Jama’at on numerous occasions that they should engage in Jihad of the Pen and convey the beautiful teachings of Islam to the world. As such, students and faculty, besides their studies and various extracurricular activities at the Jamia, write numerous articles, many of which are published in The Western Horizon.

Besides writing articles on intellectual and religious topics, students also record many of their extracurricular experiences that they take part in throughout the year. Every summer, Jamia students are instructed to perform Waqf-e-Arzi (temporary dedication) for at least 2 weeks during which they serve the cause of Islam through a variety of means. Many students choose to write about their experiences of Waqf-e-Arzi and other activities that they do throughout the year.

The Western Horizon also prides itself in reporting the various Jamia activities that take place throughout the school year. These include guest lectures, Jamia excursions, and educational and sports competitions.

The Western Horizon team is comprised by students working in tandem with Principal Sahib and a number of Jamia faculty members.
